Convention 2003
The guest speaker at the June 17 dinner meeting was Admiral Thomas Q. Donaldson, USN (Ret), Director of the John C. Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis. Admiral Donaldson presented a most interesting and enlightening update on the numerous scientific programs in progress at the giant $1.5 billion facility which hostsNASA and 57 tennant organizations. The total work force consists of 4,500 workers throughout the 14,000 acre complex. In addition, a 125,000 acre buffer zone surrounds Stennis Space Center providing security and minimizing
encroachment by civilian interests. The center is the sole test site for all of the rocket engines which power the space shuttles.
