2005 Mississippi Council of Chapters US-Australia 135th EMU gathering and Fort Rucker Memorial (May 25-27)

The Mississippi Council of Chapters of MOAA hosted American and Australian Vietnam-Veterans, and their families, May 25-26, 2005 in Biloxi, MS. All Mississippi Council of Chapters members were invited to join the bi-national festivities. Forty seven Australians and one hundred American Veterans from 31 states were present. The veterans are former members of the unique 135th Assault Helicopter Company Experimental Unit (EMU) made up of both U.S. Army and Royal Australian Navy personnel. The unit existed from 1967 until 1971 and was the only unit of its kind in U.S. military history. The veterans headed to Ft. Rucker, Alabama for a memorial ceremony May 27, 2005.
